Rockin’ House Building

Student Cora Parker from Media Corp met up with students and advisors Mr. Avon and Oscar to find out what "Rockin' House Builiding" is all about!

Cora: What is the main plan for the Houses activity?
Answer: To get middle school students some pre-high school exposure to wood work. They also want to give students a chance to learn about carpentry and construction as a trade.

Cora: What is the first step you take in creating a House?
Answer: There are two different sizes of houses under construction, students have a basic floor plan to follow but they begin the house construction with the foundation.
Cora: How big will they be?
Answer: They will be 2-story and the scale is based on ½ inch=1 foot.

Cora: What materials are you using to build the structures?
Answer: Basic wood that has been prepared by the high school students.
Cora: Who will get to keep them? Will they be on display or go to the creator’s house?
Answer: The small houses will go to the students who constructed them and the large house will go on display somewhere in Henkle.

Go to the Salmon room to check out and/or join the crew constructing houses!
